We love to meet new enthusiastic members of the community! If you love video editing and want to help improve OpenShot, please send me an email: No programming skills are needed, as we are looking for anyone who has time to volunteer. Huge improvement to language translations (Thanks to Frank Dana - ferdnyc).Save frame button for quickly saving the current preview frame.Threading improvements help prevent crashing around effects (including masks and transitions), and improve performance on many systems.Masks and transitions can now be modified at any time, and can now use an image or video! This utilizes the grayscale of each frame and converts it into a mask, and can be used to create some really amazing effects.Openshot looks easier to use than kdenlive but with less options/features. Hoever, I have not yet worked out if it is capable of panning across a clip, revealing only a part of it. Have downloaded openshot, looks good and on 'properties' of clips it seems possible to run some sort of pan and zoom due them giving you the start and end position options for X/Y axis and percentage of the image. It seems a bit odd though they are distributing a through ubuntu, mint etc a version which includes an option which does not work because of missing components. The latest development version of kdenlive, I expect downloadable from their website does save the keyframe options for pan and zoom. Someone said this can be done (possible to add keyframes) in some sort of way through the composite option on the effects list (but I haven't worked out how that will work either). It appears that the latest stable version of Kdenlive is not 'keyframable' so that Pan and Zoom, although on the effects list, can not actually work.because your zoom/pan has a start position but not an end position.
